how has pd caused you to grow? [10-10-04]

PD disrupts our lives as we knew them. We struggle to come to terms with who we sre and what our lives will be post-dx. This struggle is difficult and painful. but at tthe end of it comes aa new sense of self, and in some ways we are better persons than we were before. Would you share a way in which you have grown as a human being as a result of being a parkie? |

I think I've grown from having PD in the sense that I now have a whole new look at people with dissibilities. I've always had a special place in my heart for people with dissibilities, but having PD has opened the door to helping people. I founded a support group, which quickly became a possitive patient advocacy organisation in Ohio and is growing. I feel so good about myself. I have surrounded myself with people who share in my vision, which is helping my vision become a reality. I enjoy emencely what we do for pwp. My loce grows all the time for pwp. Has I not been diagnosed and battling PD, I doubt very much that I would be doing what I'mn doing. I've been blessed with soooooooo many wonderful friends since dx of PD.
