The Need

 

It goes without saying that YOPA endorses the efforts of those dedicated to understanding, curing and preventing Parkinson's Disease - hopefully sooner than later. And the people affected are not just those who have been handed the diagnosis, but their spouses/significant others, families, friends, neighbors, employers - at the end of the day, all of us, in reality, wear the cost of not having a cure.

 

However, our mission is making the lives of those who are facing young onset Parkinson’s better RIGHT NOW.  We are striving to assist the many sufferers, all of whom are facing huge difficulties as a result of the disease in their present lives. The needs of PWP (Persons with Parkinson’s) and their families can be unimaginable, and are often immediate. You may not know we are a 100% volunteer organization, and all of us are PWP. We work extremely hard to keep administrative expenses low so most of the money we raise goes towards our mission.

 

Michael J. Fox once observed that Parkinson's is "the gift that keeps on taking". Much of what is taken cannot be replaced (at least directly) with financial resources, and then again, many facets of the misfortune of PD can be - if not replaced - ameliorated. So we are making an appeal for donations.

  

If you are one of us, you have suffered great losses in your life due to PD. If you are a loved one or friend of a PWP, we know you are committed - as we are - to doing everything possible to fight PD and its impact on lives. If you are blessed enough to help others in greater need than yourself, anything you can give is appreciated. No amount is too small to be important. You can give in three ways:
